Festival organisers are corresponding with the Lord Lieutenant's office, regarding the possibility of a member of The Royal Family attending the Ramsgate Royal Harbour 200th year celebrations in September 2021.
George IV first visited Ramsgate on the 25th September, 1821 and received a resounding welcome for the town’s population. He visited again that year on November 8th and on the 27th November he proclaimed Ramsgate as a Royal Harbour.
This honour allows the town to fly the Royal Standard three times a year to recognise the king's accession to the throne on January 29, his coronation on July 19 and his birthday on August 12.
Ramsgate is very proud to remain the only Royal Harbour in the United Kingdom.
