In September 2021 Ramsgate will celebrate the 200th anniversary of King George IV granting Royal status to our wonderful harbour. We are going to commemorate this by hosting a series of events over 3 days and installing this fantastic statue of King George IV overlooking the harbour. Local artist, Dominic Grant at Arch 20, Military Road, is creating the larger-than-life sculpture completely free of charge, and now we need your help to raise in excess of £80,000 to fund; the bronze casting, site groundworks, plinth and the statue’s local journeys back and forth during the finishing process, before our very own George IV arrives at his final destination on the harbour side.
For further information, ways to donate or offers of help please contact Barbara Sims, Festival Secretary:
We need to raise money but also input from people who can volunteer their skills to work with the organisers not only to ensure a completed George sits in prime position, but also to make the festival happen. If you have fund-raising ideas or want to involve your school, community groups, or business please get in touch.
We are calling on all lovers of Ramsgate, to join our team to make this the biggest event in Ramsgate for over 70 years!
Details are soon to be announced about our crowdfunding activities and the rewards for pledges!
