In September, Ramsgate will celebrate the 200th anniversary of King George IV granting Royal status to it’s wonderful Harbour.

Some 4 years ago Dominic Grant, Ramsgate Artist, commenced work and almost completed, a larger-than-life clay sculpture of George IV, before his untimely death in 2020. Dominic freely gave all his time and wealth of expertise, in producing a magnificent piece of work that he envisaged standing overlooking the Harbour he loved.

Now even more than before, we need help to raise in excess of £60,000 to fund the project . Our estimated costs to fulfil Dominics’ dreams include costs for; bronze casting, site groundworks, planning permission, changes to the site, supply of plinth and inscription, lighting and logistics.

Dominic was very keen to use as many local trades and suppliers in Thanet as possible during the finishing and delivery of his work of art and every endeavour will be made to meet his wishes.

We are in the process of applying for local and grants from the Art World, in an attempt to raise some of the money needed.

Dominic was passionate about leaving a legacy to Ramsgate, a wish that his family and friends still fully support.
