The Royal Harbour of Ramsgate 200th Anniversary Festival
Ralph Hoult OBE and Honorary Freeman of Ramsgate Town Chairman Festival
Ralph Hoult, Chairman Festival, is leading the Festivals Organisational Team, to celebrate next year’s September festivities in marking Ramsgate Harbour being proclaimed ‘Royal’ in 1821 by George IV.
Ralph comments “I have had a vision for several years now, to mark 2021 as ‘the year’ when Ramsgate has the chance to celebrate and showcase our fantastic harbour to our community, Kent and beyond. We are trying to build an event that will reach audiences in the UK, Europe, and if we can the World! Our incredibly talented Event Makers are currently building on various activities that we are planning and they are being led by an Executive Committee whose role it is to actually bring everything together so the Festival is the biggest event Ramsgate has put on for 70 years”.
He went on to say “In the coming months we will officially announce our Festival programme, which will include the crowning glory of the event with the official unveiling of a larger than life statue of King George IV. I have great faith that we will have a Royal visit during the event, I think Ramsgate deserves and needs a high ranking member of The Royal Family here to see our very own George IV unveiled”.
The Festival Organisers indicate that they need to raise over £80,000.00 to bronze, cover all materials and logistical costs for the George IV statue and well over £150,000.00 to fund the 3 day Festival. The money is to be raised through sponsorship deals, local and national fundraising, just giving donations, the sales of a new book and various other inventive ways.
